Re: Moving Bees w/a twist

Bees will have enough trouble with one change, so I would do it in two steps. I would also do both on a day where that night it's not supposed to get below 50 F... I should have said this the other day. It's the pitfalls in communication via the internet vs in person. I am over half way through the...

Re: Moving Bees w/a twist

talking about it made me realize that I definitely don't want to move the bigger, heavier horizontals with the bees in it. I will move the horizontals to their place and set up some blocks beside them and move the brood boxes to blocks. not sure if I will confine them for 3 days or 1 day with branch...

But, I also wnat to install them into two new long lang boxes I had built. I can only think of one way to go about this double procedure and that is to mov...

Re: Hello From N. Ga.

the thought occurred to me that even if you have to give some of them away or plant them on another person's property at least bees will still have the benefit of them.

Re: Hello From N. Ga.

i had visited that site before and could drive there in under 2 hrs but they don't seem to offer local pickup. The shipping cost is even more amazing that the cost of the trees. looks unbelievable I think I will call them.

Builders Forum

A forum about building various hives would be most interesting and helpful to many. I am sure there are many builders on this forum.

Re: Hello From N. Ga.

I live in Whitfield and I actually have a single sourwood tree on my small piece of property but kinda doubt those are too prevalent nearby. I am clearing that area where the one tree is and have thought about planting sourwoods but not a lot of choices in places to buy them from. Thanks

Hello From N. Ga.

Funny how things work out sometimes. I'm doing the intro as suggested and the top one says about the same thing I would in that I am leaving facebook and googling and found a thread that led me here and he is from N. Ga. too. I'm starting my 3rd year of beekeeping come spring and currently have 4 ac...

Re: Rant about Layens hive.

wasn't Dr Leo's primary purpose for making the lang fit into the layens to provide a way to move a colony from lang to layens? I think your point is to adjust the size of the box to accommodate lang frames and I'm really getting into that, sounds like a good idea.
