Scale Hive

Postby ToeOfDog » Fri Sep 25, 2015 1:34 am

My 125 year old, 1,000 pound capicity, Fairbanks platform scale became operational today after 3 months of renovation. Now to get a hive on it. Is anyone else running a scale hive or know someone who is?

I would love to have one or 2. Be cool to see how weigh changes throughout the season.

I met a 60 year tenure beekeeper who said a scale hive taught him more in the last two years than everything else did in the past 10. He knew how much honey was consumed by the scale hive colony from end of spring flow to beginning of next years spring flow. He knew how much was consumed from end of Golden Rod to April 1.
