Observation hive

Postby Kwalt » Wed May 24, 2017 3:12 am

I'm interested in building an observation hive. I'm not impressed with the hive style in the Building Beehives for Dummies book. Does anyone have any experience with any other plans, internet or book versions? I'm open to suggestions but I don't want to design one myself.

Sam Droege, a biologist for the U.S. Geological Survey—“bees are not optional."

I need to get pictures of the ones I've done. A frame with grooves for the frame rests and plexiglass held on with mirror clips works nicely.

I suppose it shouldn't be that hard to back into a design just using langstroth box dimensions and use the 1 3/4" dimension between the glass.

I might try to draw something up if I can't find someone else's work to use.

Basically that's what I did and came up with the calculations in my head...
